For many, Kirk Franklin and God's Property were their introdtion to the concept of the urban choir. However, before anyone ever began to "Stomp", the originators of this movement were doing their thing on the West coast.

Cali-based Brent Jones & the TP (Total Praise) Mobb have been gracing stages and nightclubs across the country for years with their edgy, energetic, and street-savvy presentation of the Gospel, complete with choreography and stylish outfits. Fifteen years since they first made impact, Jones and his Mobb are back with a new album on a new label. This third effort, titled The Ultimate Weekend, serves as the group's debut release on Tyscot Records.

The Ultimate Weekend is the culmination and reflection of great change for Jones and the TP Mobb. The project serves as Jones' first concept album, as he presents music representing the flavors of each day of the weekend.

With that, the Friday portion is filled with mellow urban grooves designed to foster relaxation after a busy week at the office. Naturally, the Saturday element features high energy, club-rockin' party jams intended to get your blood moving. Be sure to check out the candid "My Heart's Desire" and the reggae-tinged "The Lover", featuring Stephen "Rasta GT" Dolphin.

Considering Jones' recent relocation to the East Coast, serving in the music ministry of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington, Maryland with the "Prince of Praise" Byron Cage, it's no surprise that the bulk of the album is dedicated to the final day of the weekend, Sunday. It is here that the strength of the effort lies, with high-energy praise cuts including "Cry Holy" and the infectious "Heaven In The Room" serving as standout cuts that warrant several repeat plays on the iPod.

Be sure to also check out the sincere worship vibe of "Blessing With Your Name On It" and the encouraging "Go Through The Storm".

This 17-track album reflects the maturation of Jones and his TP Mobb as they show their true diversity and ability to successfully stretch into new places. The Ultimate Weekend is another enjoyable chapter in the musical lineage of Brent Jones and the TP Mobb.
