Cy
Circus World Event : The Ringleader

Many tend to group all mainstream rappers and even Christian rappers together —the assumption is that being rappers, they all follow the same musical formula, not veering too far from the current norm, whatever that happens to be.

CD This cannot be said about Cy, who brings a new element to the rap game, with the release of Circus World Event : The Ringleader. The album's conceit is the "big top", the artist equating life situations to things that happen in the circus. Tony Stone produces most of the cuts, with Cy, 4Sight Sounds and Toby Hill handling the rest.

The cleverly titled "Flip Side Trapeze" is a warning to those who seem to be on top of the world but are in fact, operating without God in the mix. Stone provides the banger, adding zany sounds and samples with synth rhythms.

"The Circus Tour" is a superbly catchy tune that is destined to pique the interest of children and the young at heart. The circus Cy refers to is sin, as explained by guest emcees R Swift, J Johnson (formerly J. Silas) and others.

"Been There Don't That" has a funky, eerie melody with a banger courtesy of Cy himself. He just wants people to know what God has rescued him from, and how the fast life is not as good as some seem to think. "The Ringleader" is a rap showcase, with Cy taking on the persona of the Enemy, enticing people to his "circus", but ultimately being run out of town by the loving Jesus Christ.

In the midst of all the creativity, Cy deals with issues and ministers to the hurting and lost. Wife Gina Gross along with guest Pettidee are featured on the chilled-out urban cut, "Watcha Step", which deals with the pain caused by making bad decisions.

Other standout tracks are "Eternal Ferris Wheel" featuring Sean Slaughter and Mark J and "Struggle" featuring Gross.

Cy has outdone himself. Circus World Event : The Ringleader is both provocative and out-the-box creative. Those who appreciate hip hop, hotness and creativity, cop this disc!
