Rev. F.C. Barnes & Company
I Shall Not Be Moved

Another offering from the prolific Barnes family comes by way of Rev. F.C. Barnes & Company.

The Barnes patriarch and Gospel music legend delivers everything expected of him on this AIR Gospel release, titled I Shall Not Be Moved. Nieces Deborah, Lisa and Wanda Barnes CDaccompany with backing vocals throughout the 11-song project, their close and disctinctly resonant harmonies solidifying the grittier vocal piercings of their uncle.

Look for the title cut, "I Shall Not Be Moved", with its mid tempo persistence and traditional bent to rack up points. "The Lord Is My Shepherd" is a newly arranged song with the familiar lyrics from Psalm 23. Deborah Barnes takes up solo duties on this one.

On "It Will Be Over Someday", the tempo slows to mirror the song's reflective message. Eric Phillips' piano serves as backdrop to Rev. Barnes lead, with Lisa Barnes trading the mic mid-song. "People Get Ready" —same title but new melody as the Curtis Mayfield classic— is Barnes' warning to the church of the Lord's imminent second coming, as "you don't want Him to catch you with your work undone".

Other highlight cuts include the slowly unwinding "Savior Let Me Walk With Thee" (featuring Rev. Barnes on a nearly spoken solo line) and Deborah Barnes' nine-minute arrangement of "We Shall Behold Him".

Yes, the members of the Red Budd Holy Church of Rocky Mount, North Carolina are again out front on the recording scene with I Shall Not Be Moved.
