Gotta Have Gospel! Volume 3

Year three for the annual Gotta Have Gospel! compilation yields another quality 2-disc juggernaut, a snapshot of the best singles over the past year and beyond, together with a couple of bonus previews for the year to come.

CD Primarily consisting of cuts from the respective Integrity Gospel and GospoCentric rosters, this set also includes material from Anthony Evans, Ruben Studdard, BeBe Winans and several others.

The 'On The Street' disc moves to the urban beat, with Tye Tribbett’s infectious "Can’t Live" and J.Moss’ "Don’t Pray and Worry" in step with Papa San’s raucous "Step Pon Di Enemy" and Tonex’ very popular "Got Has Not 4Got".

More traditionally minded songs reside on the 'In The House' disc. Dorinda Clark-Cole’s "I’m Still Here" satisfies with its church riffs, and choir cuts such as "We’ve Come To Praise Him" from Joe Pace and "Zion Rejoice" from the West Coast church Faithful Central make their mark.

Virtue teams up with the Darkchild production crew on "Give Him The Praise", and it’s a pairing that really works. Infectious melodies and kicking beats, and the trio’s patented close harmonies propel the cut to favourite status, and increases expectations for Virtue’s debut project for Darkchild Gospel.

"Move On Over" is the new cut from Lisa McClendon. Recorded live at the House of Blues, this fast-paced live-recorded gem harnesses McClendon’s penchant for soulful delivery with an innovative band accompaniment and Maurice Henderson’s production skills. The song references our desire to let nothing hinder our praise. Looks like this neo-soulster’s upcoming project will be a winner, if this is any indication of what she’s bringing to 2006.

Rounding out the 28-song collection are some sleepers that you may have missed along the course of year: William Murphy’s "Awesome", BeBe Winans’ "When You Pray" and Martha Munizzi’s "Mighty God" are among them.

As a year-end encapsulation of some of Gospel’s finest moments, Gotta Have Gospel! Volume 3 is the one.
