Mandisa
True Beauty

Mandisa was an inspiration to many during her time on American Idol, thrilling the audience with those powerhouse vocals. And ever since Mandisa was voted off the show, things have only looked up for her.

CD Mandisa drops her debut project, True Beauty, on INO Records, a beautiful mix of ballads, urban grooves with a little Gospel mixed in to top it off.

"God Speaking" is a soothing and encouraging song which speaks of how God would use anything to speak and minister to his people. CCM hit maker, Brown Bannister, produces.

Toby Mac and Diverse City blaze the old-school styled, "Love Somebody", produced by DoubleDutch. This song is fun all the way through. Don't be surprised if you feel the urge to dig out your roller skates after hearing this one.

The title track is a funky banger that speaks of the world's superficial view of beauty and how true beauty is what is inside a person. This could be an anthem for all women.

Mandisa pays homage to the Negro Spiritual with a stirring remake of "Oh My Lord", featuring the Fisk University Jubilee Singers, of which she is an alumnus. Drew and Shannon's crisp production gives the piece an authentic retro sound while also bringing out the harmonies of the Jubilee Singers.

Lead single, "Only The World" is a fun pop ditty which Mandisa uses to encourage people that the trials of this life can be overcome. She showcases her famous pipes towards the end of the song, but resists the urge to oversing. "God Speaking" could burn up Adult Contemporary charts with its inspirational lyrics and the smooth feel to it.

Mandisa also gives her take on the suddenly popular "Unrestrained". Other songs to check out are "Only You" and her rendition of "Shackles".

Mandisa finds True Beauty on her debut, and looks to have found her niche.
