Nathan David
You Are My World
Smooth soul and R&P specialist Nathan David enters the scene with strong, songwriter's project
from Prolific Music Group titled You Are My World.
Considering the numerous mainstream music opportunities that David has turned down over the years
(for conscience and for the sake of the Call), the title track could easily be considered his motto. Leaning on his
fervor for the Gospel message, David uses his buttery tenor pipes to profess that God alone is "the
One to fulfill my needs".
Backdropping this West Coast artist's vocal tracks is the much-missed musical excellence of the
veteran Tim Miner, who joins David in production, and also adds his instrumental and songwriting
talents to the album.
You can hear Miner's trademark sound throughout the project, and especially
on cuts such as "A Brighter Day" and the Latin-influenced dance-generator "Feel It In My Soul".
On "I'm Calling You", David takes it down a notch in tempo, moving his voice over atmospheric
instrumentation from Ken Taylor. David takes on God's voice in the song, emphasizing the personal call
that He gives to each of us. Miner contributes backing vocals.
Another highlight on the album is "Heaven", penned by David. Looking forward to the hereafter,
this cut finds its place in quiet storm territory, moving with a resilient rhythmic drive over
splashes of guitar.
You can also put a star beside the edgy "Color Lines No More", with its impassioned plea for racial
harmony, and also the contrastingly tender, soulful prayer "Just Me And You". Quiet backing female
backing vocals and piano from Miner add just the right touch to the cut.
Nathan David finds his soul-pop niche on this personal and love-labored album, quickly drawing you
in. Credit his musicality and his open lyricism for that.
