Sound of the New Breed
Kingdom

Sound of the New Breed, the talented vocal and music aggregation that is blessing the masses in serving with Israel Houghton, is back with another new release, Kingdom. Flowing in much the same vein as the group's previous project, Freedom (read review), this effort nevertheless takes on a sound of its own. Houghton and Buddy Strong produce.

CDDaniel Johnson leads the old favorite, "Ancient of Days", and continues his role as the leader of the vocalists. A bridge with an ode to Africa is added to take the song up another notch. "Sing for Joy" is given a funkier edge will catch the ears of musicians.

Take note of the powerful "Jesus Is". This song is great from Johnson's exhortations to Dakri Brown's lead to the rock-driven chorus. You can put this on repeat and worship with reckless abandon.

"Let the Church Rise" shows up with a more traditional Gospel sound, highlighted by sweet vocals from Neville Diedericks. Buddy Strong tickles the ivories and adds some nice organ work.

Musical prodigy Leah Smith beautifully leads Hillsongs United's "Still", with help from Daniel Johnson. At only 19, Smith looks to be a name that will be heard in several genres. The Houghton-penned "Everything" gets a slight reworking with an added vamp that will surely make more waves and find its way on praise and worship lists. Mattie Blackburn so smoothly and elegantly co-leads this one with Johnson.

"Revelation Song" is becoming a staple in church services and rightfully so with its well written song of adoration to the living God. New Breed stay in the same vein as the original with only slight alterations that enhance this precious song. The incomparable vocals of Stacy Joseph share lead duties with Smith and Johnson which will help to catch the attention of those who have never heard the song.

Other songs to check out are "Thank You Lord" lead by Jamil Freeman and "All to You" led by Jeremiah Woods.

It is great to see members of New Breed take the lead on these releases. Most of the members are worship leaders at their respective churches, which comes as no surprise on listening. Just buy it, enjoy it and join the group in worshiping God with it.
