Papa San
Higher Heights

Few have found the level of commercial success in the reggae and gospel arenas as has Papa San. With 15 secular albums to his credit, the Jamaican native has impacted music charts and radios around the world —not only in his homeland. Since 1997, the swift speaking lyricist has released three full-length gospel efforts and collaborated with the likes of Kirk Franklin, TobyMac, Percy Bady, and Natalie Wilson.

After a three-year layoff, Papa San is back with his latest effort titled Heigher Heights on his new imprint Beloved CDRecords. Twenty tracks strong, this effort continues to showcase the artist's exciting style and unbridled passion.

It's hard to look past the impressive collaborations on this effort. TobyMac continues his long-standing relationship with the reggae artist with the leadoff cut "Fasure". Winans Phase 2 alumnus Marvin Winans, Jr. lends his smooth vocals to the "Prayer", while Canton Jones handles the hook and background vocals on urban-tinged "Ina the Gettio".

Newcomer Seanote joins Papa San on the laidback reggae groove "Stand" and Kristen Dentley adds to the relaxing "More Love".

Papa San takes this effort to showcase the diversity in both his repertoire and delivery style. From the hardcore dancehall reggae vibe of "No Other Way" to the more traditional reggae styling of "Africa Unite", Papa San presents the inspirational message of God's love and mercy with great authenticity.

Check out the intro to "Let It Burn", which sees Papa San display his lightening fast vocal delivery in perhaps the most action-packed 38 seconds on the album and serves as an apposite lead in to "Let It Burn".

You definitely can't afford to miss the hidden track "Alter", a worship ballad featuring Alvin Slaughter, Glacia Robinson, and Junior Tucker among others.

Without a doubt, Papa San is back and makes a profound mark with his fourth gospel offering. Continuing to carve his mark, Papa San lives up to his album title, taking his musical presentation and listeners alike to Higher Heights.
