Resurrections: Past, Present and Future On the album’s first track “I’m a Vet”, Pettidee flows over a dirty south style beat with a hypnotic, “chopped and screwed”, chorus hook that will get you in repeat mode. Pettidee raps about paying his dues in the music industry and reserving the right to call himself a hip hop veteran.
“The Bands Up” is a definitely a club rocker. Pettidee flexes his production skills by incorporating a drumline style of beat that was made to encourage people to get crunk’d up, dance along, and stomp on the enemy in the process.Mo Henderson and L. Seymore share the production credits on the song “I Can’t” which features a heavy dose of a jazzy, acoustic guitar and smooth vocals of Leon Timbo. Pettidee persuasively tells of how God has showed His grace abundantly in his life. “Uh! Oh!”, featuring Jason Eskridge is truly a praise party anthem song. Pettidee raps about how he won’t compromise his style to satisfy the negative-driven demands that record labels put on most artists. This song should serve as an encouragement to up-and-coming gospel artists who are pondering displaying “edgy” lyrics to gain a broader audience. One of the most heart warming songs on the Resurrections album is “All Alone”, featuring Phoebe. Pettidee pours out his soul on this track, challenging individuals to help those in need as opposed to loving evil and condoning spiritual genocide. Phoebe’s lovely vocals alone (singing the hook) make this one a radio hit. Pettidee has grown lyrically and spiritually over the years, which explains why this project ranks with some of the best rap albums out to date. Whether you want to listen to old school Southern crunk flavored hits like “We Ain’t Scared” and “No Wed, No Bed” featuring Ladylike, or whether you want hardcore, dirty South songs like “Choppin Blades”, Resurrections: Past, Present and Future has enough flavors for all music lovers. This album has it all and should be considered for a Stellar award yeah that’s right, it’s just that good!
