Viktory
Believe It Now

After delivering a memorable debut album, Viktory is back on the scene with his sophomore effort, Believe It Now. The second release for Viktorious Music features the Alabama native continuing to build on the foundation he laid previously, as he fuses clever lyrics and creatives delivery with blazing production, making him one of the game’s hottest unsigned acts.

CD This fifteen-track endeavor has no shortage of star power as Viktory enlists several of urban music’s hottest talents to partner with him on this effort. Winans Phase 2 alumnus Marvin “Coconut” Winans, Jr. lends his vocals to the hook of “Hold Me Down”. These two are not strangers, as they partnered together on Viktory’s debut effort (read album review). They continue to work well together as they speak to the believer’s need to be supported completely by Christ.

The star power gets even bigger as the currently-retired progenitor of Nureaumerica, Tonéx, offers his production genius on the tracks “C’Mon Man” and “Dopeman”. As you can expect, that Nureau Ink is spilled all over these tracks and adequately compliments Vik’s “victorious” flow. “Dopeman” is especially creative, as Viktory equates receiving the Word to the desperation of a drug addict, while likening deliverers of the Word to suppliers. With the emphasis on the need for believers to crave the Word with a heavenly addiction, this track is definitely a keeper and one of the most creative in recent memory. Both “C’Mon Man” and “Dopeman” are easily on tap for summer jams of 2006.

The balance of the album’s production falls on the capable shoulders of Tony Stone, who brings all sorts of flava to this effort, solidifying its urban authenticity.

But all of the production in the world can’t replace skilled delivery and relevant lyrics. And… there’s no shortage of either here, for Viktory continues to tell stories and create images that keep the listener intoxicated from start to finish.

ViktoryThe simile-laden title track showcases Viktory poetic flow that sets him in a class all his own. The Midwest-infused track “Move” is a song that unapologetically speaks to the enemy and haters, demanding them to move out of the way. “Slip N Slide” moves toward that mellow Dirty South vibe and serves as encouragement to those living the life to just live and continue to move towards their divine destination.

“Most High” speaks to the faithful nature of Christ and encourages believers not to dwell on their hang ups but to depend on God for deliverance and victory. It showcases the intimate nature of a personal relationship with God, presenting it in an approachable format that personalizes the “Most High” and simplifies the concept of a daily walk with God.

Once again, Viktory delivers a memorable project that’s both relevant and infectious. With transparency one of his arrows, this effort is a bonafide tool to win others to Christ while encouraging believers in the faith. This is one that will spend plenty of time in your CD players and already has dibs for one of hip-hop’s brightest efforts of 2006.
