Platinum Souls
Unexpected Mixes Vol. 3 Worldwide
Move over Batman and Robin. That new dynamic duo in town is here to stay.
Yes, Platinum Souls, the underground sensations, are back on the scene with the third installment of their underground mixtape, Unexpected Mixes Vol. 3 Worldwide.
The duo has turned heads in the underground circuit as Ricardo FLO and Ms. Ty Scott combine their potent rhymes with spoken word over phat tracks, causing heads across the country nod uncontrollably.
With two installments already under their belt (read Vol. One, read Vol Two), Platinum Souls continue to bring fire to the streets with this release. FLO laces the project with severe lyrical potency. The duo blazes the project with tracks like "The Commission" and "Gotta Keep Moving".
Ironically, this tag team displays a bit of their creativity and diversity with the introduction of their new super hero "Platman", with his story featured on the track "Platman/Superhero". It tells of this hero who travels to cities with the design of winning souls.
With a sample of the Batman theme playing in the background, the track serves as Platman's theme song (after all, superheroes must have a theme song.) Yet, this particular song is fused with "Superhero", a powerful poem delivered by Ms. Ty Scott that speaks of the awesome power of Christ. The poem, sparked by Scott's sincere and strong delivery, exalts Christ's power and elevates Him as the greatest superhero of all.
Scott continues to bring her awesome poetic delivery to the project. Check out poems such as "Supernatural" and "Watch the Trend Change". Her exceptional skills would easily rival any poet on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and is sure to leave a mark on all listeners.
In what is becoming a trademark of this dynamic duo, Ricardo FLO takes time to jack a beat or two and lace it with nothing but the Gospel. Throughout the project FLO samples hits ranging from Missy Elliott's "Work It" to Brandy's "What About Us" and overlays it with an awesome flow that glorifies the Father.
Of course, the duo also come together on several tracks. Definitely look out for "This Is a Word", which features Chosen and Black Lion. Based on Busta Rhymes' "Make It Clap", it will definitely make you do so, along with a dance and a celebration in the Word of God.
Consistent with Volumes 1 and 2, PS introduces the world to new and hidden talent. Infinity comes to the table with "Q&A", a thought-provoking song which chronicles the challenge that single men may have in a sexually charged environment.
"Spit 16" sees Brody Raw step to the table with a strong 16 bars of liberating, life changing rhymes that bears small resemblance to KJ-52's "47 Emcees", as he cleverly mixes varying rap entities into his flow. Representing Virginia are the Neginoth Soldiers who bring nothing but heat with "Crunch Time" and "Forget It".
Rounding out the project in unique fashion are more mellow tracks from artists such as Euclid Gray and Precha, which serve as an altar call of sorts for this mixtape.
This being the third installment of these Unexpected Mixes, Platinum Souls have staked their claim to the game as perhaps Holy Hip-Hop's "Tag Team of the Year". Volume 3 is definitely slated to go Worldwide.
