RECAP: Verizon's How Sweet The Sound Tour (Detroit)

Verizon's How Sweet the Sound Church Choir Competition wound its way to the Motor City of Detroit for an exhilarating night of praise and celebration at the Joe Louis Arena on September 25th, 2010.

It was an evening full of wonder for both the young and old, as the pre-festivities afforded the opportunity to get your own "sing on" in the gospel karaoke area as well as to get your dance on.

From the artistic work of celebrated artist Charles Chazz Miller to the Youth Gospel Showcase featuring amongst its outstanding performers a step team clad in fatigues with precision crafted and coordinated movements, the preliminaries delighted onlookers and well wishers.

With all of the aforementioned activity taking place, none of it could compare to what was going on in the auditorium, because the night belonged to the choirs. The Judges were seated (Pastor Marvin Sapp and fellow celebrity judges Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Minister Kurt Carr) and then the praises began.

You could sense the energy and enthusiasm from each of the choirs as they performed and all worked very hard, but winners had to be selected and after deliberation, the announcement was made:

The Detroit Best Small Choir Winner: The Breadhouse Choir of Lansing Michigan

The Detroit Verizon People's Choice Winner: The Apostolic Church of Auburn Hills Michigan

The Detroit Overall Winner/Best Large Choir: The Burning Bush Ministries Choir of Ypsilanti Michigan
