Ason
The Recruiter, Pt. 1

Hip hop knows no geographical boundaries, as the metro-Washington D.C. area introduces Ason to the game.

The preacher turned emcee (also known as Thurman Custis) drops an eleven-track debut project titled The Recruiter, Pt. 1, which he uses to share his genuine passion to enlist soldiers for the cause of Christ.

CD Blending acappella rhymes with catchy tracks, Ason launches on a national mission to impact a generation and win the lost to the Kingdom.

The album starts with 44 seconds of acappella flow titled "In the Booth (Pt. 1)", with a sequel to boot ("In the Booth (Pt. 2)"). Both tracks highlight the emcee’s lyrical skills, proving that he doesn’t need a bangin’ track to showcase his stuff. Have no fear though, for slick tracks do come into play on this one.

"Stop, Drop, & Roll" is a feel-good groove that has almost a West Coast, cruisin' vibe. Sam Kendrick lends his expert production to this track, which serves as a great backdrop for Ason’s slick flow. The website version of this track also makes the project, giving you another dose of the heat. "Raize Up" is the rapper's appeal to America's youth to stand out from the norm and be willing to live a praise-filled life.

The emcee has a number of monikers including Big Sonny. Throughout the project, he uses both names interchangeably but maintains the same quality delivery of his music. Check out the slick "Rollin' wit Him", where he boldly declares that he's rolling with Christ.

AsonAs an ordained minister, this emcee finds His ministerial and musical calling co-mingling, as he literally delivers sermons through his music. This is cleverly alluded to in the comical skit "Pray for Me", where the emcee calls his grandmother in an attempt to explain his new hip-hop infused ministry. Amidst the humor, he adequately chronicles the difficulties that older generations may have in understanding the hip-hop call. Ason uses tact to explain his call and show his grandmother his genuine desire to please God.

This 'co-mingling' is seriously depicted with the sermonic tinge found on "Breakthrough". On this track, the emcee speaks candidly about struggling with issues and reaches out to God for a breakthrough and deliverance from plaguing issues. This track is certain to reach anyone struggling with habits and addictions.

Add a hidden track to the mix and you have a complete twelve track quality debut.
