A Second Coming He's been around the block more than once, first as the can't-forget young soloist with the Mississippi Children's Choir in the mid 1990's ("His Eye Is On the Sparrow"), then as a frequent duet partner on projects by the late Rev. James Moore, then a solo artist with a couple of projects from Malaco Records in the late 1990's. Now in his late 20's, Byran Wilson offers up A Second Coming, on CE Music/Bryan's Songs Records. With a reinvented sound that moves to a decidedly urban groove, Wilson turns to Kris "Doc Sizzle" Bell to produce the project.Songs range from the airy feel of the pseudo-title cut "A Second Coming (My Life)", which addresses the importance of being prepared for Christ's return, to the rhythmic slow-down of the soulfully-charged "Change In Me". On the mid-tempo "Still My Father/God's There", you can hear the recognizable phrasing and melismatic turns that first drew everyone's attention to Wilson as a young soloist, with some vocal renderings straight out of Rev. Moore's catalogue. Other notables on this twelve-song project are "My Soul Boasts In The Lord", which manages to mingle traditional edges with innovative syncopated beats and horn infusions, and the infectious album-closing "Ride Out", which is a jeepy praise anthem.
