Dawkins & Dawkins
From Now On

If you are an avid lover of Urban Gospel music then you are no stranger to the names Anson and Eric Dawkins, aka Dawkins & Dawkins.

We were first introduced to Dawkins & Dawkins in 1993, when they released their first project on Benson Records, and although it's been over a decade since Dawkins & Dawkins last album (Focus, on Harmony Records in 1998), they have remained visible in the music world through their production, writing prowess, and contributions to their church community.

CD Focus is regarded by many as one of the projects that laid a framework for what we deem as Urban Gospel music today. Following in the footsteps of groups like Commissioned, the brothers brought a style and sound to the gospel genre that resonated with youth and used practical, everyday concepts to connect people to the message of Jesus Christ.

Over the years Eric Dawkins has produced for some of the top Gospel and R&B artists, while Anson has continued to create music as worship leader at his home church. Thankfully, Dawkins & Dawkins have joined forces again to produce their latest project, From Now On, on Light Records. It's a13-tracker filled with up-tempo and mid-tempo urban tracks, jazzed up with a little contemporary Christian, pop, and R&B flavor.

Dawkins & Dawkins team up with Warryn Campbell, Antonio Dixon, and Osinachi Nwaneri on production.

The project opens up with the "Fill Me" interlude which is a snippet of a whole song that is strategically placed in the form of interludes throughout the album. This is a Dawkins & Dawkins staple. The first single off of the project "Get Down" is urban inspired with catchy phrasing and a clear message.

"I'm Just Sayin' is reminiscent of a funky 70's dance track with an updated sound laced with the message of the gospel. Then there's "He Said", which immediately catches the ear with the opening flow of the first verse.

Other stand out tracks include "Love Him", "From Now On" , "Best Man", "Can You Hear Me", "Pray For Me".

There's a song titled "Back" that captures the essence of what a believer might feel when thinking about the past, about what could have done better, and God's plan for his or her life. It's a mid-tempo track with a smooth sound and a perfect blend of contemporary musical elements. The message, presentation, and sincerity of the song truly makes "Back" stand out as one of the best songs on the project.

Dawkins & Dawkins stayed true to their signature brand of music with their vocal arrangements, lyrical content, and production. Their infectious tones and lyrics make From Now On a must have.
