James Fortune & FIYA
Identity

James Fortune & FIYA emerged on the scene full force in 2005, and have not stopped impacting the music industry with their hard-hitting ballads and catchy contemporary tracks.

The group's new recording (their fourth) is Identity, also marks the launch of James Fortune's new label, F.I.Y.A World Music. After much success with You Survived, TheCD Transformation, and Encore, James Fortune & FIYA return with an 18-tracker chock full of great sounds, diverse styles, and no-holds-barred lyrical content.

Producers on the project include Aaron Lindsey, Ay'ron Lewis, PAJAM, and J.Drew Sheard. There are also a number of guest appearances, including Fred Hammond, R&B singer Monica, Eric Dawkins, Nikki Ross, and Kim Burrell.

The album opens with an overture bringing the listener into the project's theme before quickly transitioning to the up-tempo "Never Again", in which Fortune takes lead vocals. There's a catchy call-and-response opening and the musical elements and harmonies grab the listener immediately. It's one of those songs that will have your head

nodding, hands clapping, and shoulders rocking.

The title track is a song filled with powerful lyrics set to a power-packed drive that will resonate with many across the land. It's followed up by a traditional offering titled "It Could Be Worse", which features the amazing and powerful vocals of Zacardi Cortez and LeAndria Johnson.

One of the most reflective tracks is "What If", which addresses issues that many are facing and asks the hard questions that people find themselves having to answer. On "Forward", Fortune & FIYA empower by cautioning the listeners to go forward and to not look back. It's an encouraging song and one that stands out on the album.

Other highlights include: "Greatest Days", "Make A Sound", "Throw My Hands Up", "My God" and "Help Me". With an eclectic mix of contemporary, traditional, CCM, urban, and jazz inspired styles, there's truly something for everyone here.

Identity proves to be a stellar project that shows versatility and is filled with quality songs with piercing lyrics. The musicianship and production on the project is hot, and exactly what young and young at heart Gospel music lovers are looking for. Check out Identity today and anticipate a great musical journey.
