One World / One God
Reynolds knows a thing or two about leading a congregation in praise. Pulling choral contributions from Madison Square and New Hope Baptist churches respectively, he also brings in ensemble singers including Maria de la Cruz, Jace Kwekel, Craig Tyson, Wally Tett and Candice Martin.
For those who love the fun sounds of Latin salsa, "La Buena Vida (The Good Life)" is just the song. It is chock full of flamenco guitar, timbales and some serious Spanish spice courtesy Lucia Parker.
Guitarist Rick Watford brings a little rock to "You Are My God" while Gospel lovers will grab a hold of "Glory", with both songs being written and led by the versatile Reynolds.
Perhaps the songwriting of Reynolds is best displayed during the slower worship songs. The lovely "I Am" medley features original songs, "I Am" (powerfully sung by the choir), "Everything" and Hillsongs' "I Give You My Heart".
"Lord You Are" is just beautiful love song to God with strings from City of Prague Philharmonic. It is not hard to get lost in worship listening to this one.
Another good thing about Reynolds' use of choirs is that he doesn't just have them there for decoration when really all you can hear are the mic singers. The choir is a vital part of the sound. They do a stellar job on the title track, a song where you can just picture people of different races, cultures and denominations really and truly singing together harmoniously.
Reynolds brings in the smooth singing Darick Rutley to help lead "Your Will", an infectious song that you'll surely be hearing lots of on Gospel radio.
Ken Reynolds is a phenomenal writer and arranger; he leads worship in ways that can bring in those who often shy away from certain types of singing found in Gospel music or even CCM. One World/One God cannot be overlooked. If you miss this one, you will miss out on a beautiful worship experience.
