Mic Blu
BLU: Love. Hate.

Many associate the Nureau Ink camp with futuristic musical concepts and hardcore hip-hop. Enter Mic Blu, the latest Inkian who totally breaks that mold with his debut release, BLU: Love. Hate.

While the album artwork carries the Nureau Ink trademark and imprint, the artist blazes a new trail for the delegation with smooth vocals reminiscent of soulful male crooners of days gone by.

CDVeering from previous Nureau formulas, Blu pens 13 of the album's 14 tracks, placing his unique stamp on the album both lyrically and vocally, handling the bulk of the album's lead and background vocals.

Blu does partner with several Nureau delegates throughout the course of the album. DOŅA VIGOR lends her lyrical fire to "The Morning" while Tonéx assists with background vocals on the track. Blu's brother DAVID 2.0 joins the fray on the apocalyptic yet infectious "Sonrise, Sunset", while T. Bizzy lends his production flair to four of the album's tracks, including the soothing "Don't 4Get".

From start to finish, Mic Blu deftly blends skillful musical presentation with relevant and challenging messages applicable to all who will listen. Rather than focusing on a one-dimensional presentation, Blu presents music that addresses both spiritual and practical life issues, supplying a diversity of subject matter that are found in few efforts in the market.

The paradoxical nature of the album's title is arguably reflected throughout the endeavor as Blu presents elements of love for his wife ("August 17th", "Real Love"), and for God ("U Alone") while addressing his disdain for his personal shortcomings ("Free", "Come On Home").

This contrast, of sorts, continues with Blu's encouragement for listeners to participate in a praise party ("Dance"), while offering admonition for fair treatment of the Father ("Halfsteppin'", "Reconcile").

To some, this debut effort will seem paradoxical, but in reality, Blu provides a balanced perspective to life that is steeped and centered in God's Word. Consequently, BLU: Love. Hate is a rather lovable effort.
