Rawsrvnt
Representin'

In 2003, it seems as if tight new artists are blowing up everywhere. One such example is the newest soldier on the field, Rawsrvnt.

Born Eduardo "Eddy" Puyol, this vigilante breaks out on his debut set throwing lyrics like grenades. His release, rightfully called, Representin', marches to rhythmic tracks that hit like missiles and blend with his rugged voice. With a sound similar to Mystikal and holy hip hopster, Pettidee, the newcomer lays down a cutting edge vibe sharper than barbed wire.

Rawsrvnt enlisted into the rap army at the tender age of 11, premiered in a local group Kid and Posse, then moved onto a solo career in his teenage years. Hailing from the harsh, gang-plagued streets of Miami, he encountered temptations that ambushed him. Drugs CDheld him as a prisoner of war until one day Christ saved him. He returned to the platoon to fight once again.

"I see [holy hip hop] marching onward and breaking down walls saturating the world with the truth" states Rawsrvnt.

With influences like Run DMC, Fat Boys, Kurtis Blow, Sugar Hill Gang and many other old school hip hop artists, Rawsrvnt prepared himself in the trenches to create his unique flow. Early holy hip innovators, Steven Wiley and E.T.W. also served as an inspiration to Rawsrvnt's career.

So how about his album you ask?

Cuts like "Full Armor" and "Represent" display Rawsrvnt signature sound with flare both laced with flavor as potent as tear gas. Then the ultra-smooth "Realize", "Tell Me", and "Romans 12:2" ride with R&P vocal backup and production that threaten to create nausea from all the head bobbing.

The blockbuster of the album is the bullet-proof single, "I'ma Soldier" which flies through the air like a jet fighter.

The rest of the album is sprinkled with strings, horns, and bombastic drum patterns which range from melodic to soldieristic.

Rawsrvnt impresses with his first set. With a style that is raw, bold, and uncut, Representin' truly exhibits this soldier's talents and will have you standing at attention.
