The Movement The first clue to where this project is headed is with "Release", a perfect beat-banger that relies more on Poems' delivery than the beat. The title track has Poems explaining the theme of the album. The music is dope with sitar samples and the right boom bip (from Medeiros) to get any crowd hype. Get ready and pump your fists to what could be an anthem for those who love God and hip hop. Poems shows his love for the single mothers on "Dead Beat Dad". Mr. J Medeiros provides the R&B-styled music that goes well with Poems' style, and he does it without taking away from the essence of hip hop. The duo Light Headed joins the emcee on "Four". The chemistry between the three individuals is evident, as each delivers their 8 or 16 bars of fire. "Open Book" is another song that will provoke thought on The Movement, as Poems explains that he is an example of a life saved by God.Perhaps the best song on the project is the feel-good "Freedom". Stro produces this jam, providing some funky keyboards and a midtempo/danceable beat, with Poems handling the lyrics and the catchy hook. This is one that could burn up radio shows everywhere. Sharlock Poems shows his versatility as he raps over any beat provided. He delivers on the fast-paced "Focus", explaining that nothing will stop his focus on God and his goals in life. The slow tempo of "Change" is unusual for the hip hop game. True to the theme of the joint, Flynn creates a beat that is different. Lyrically here, Poems calls for people to be innovative and not remain the same. Yes, Sharlock Poems delivers on his first solo release, showing himself to be up there with the dopest, and demonstrating his heart for seeing God's people advance.
