Question | Answer |
What is your dream car? :
A DeLorean. I want one of those!
What is your best concert experience? :
Oh, The Winans, when they were in concert way back when, singing all of those old songs.
What are you most fanatical about? :
World Wrestling Entertainment!
What is the best gift you ever received? :
My wife [Damita].
What was your first car? :
A Cadillac Seville. The one with the slant at the back. Actually, my dad gave it to me, it was clean too, with the wheels and the running board on the side, the cloth top and trim. It was awesome. But something was wrong with the engine, that's why he gave it to me. I would have it to this day if hadn't have stopped on me in a bad neighborhood. So I had to leave it there overnight, and I guess some boys came and just pushed it away, rode it away, and I haven't seen it since.
What would you do if not music? :
I'd be trying to figure out how to get into wrestling. Managing some wrestler or anything like that, because I'm just a fanatic about wrestling.
What is your dream collaboration? :
Michael Jackson, Phil Collins or Sting. If I could sing with any of those guys, I would just hang it up. You can all have it, I'd just put that CD on my wall and go do something else!
What do you consider to be your best quality? :
I believe I have a lot of patience.
What were the circumstances of your receiving your salvation? :
I had to be about 10 years old, I was in church and we had a prayer service. All the kids were there, we would play around the altar while everybody else would be praying. But that particular day we were all serious. We called on Jesus. Next thing, we were speaking in tongues and God just touched us kids. All us kids got baptized together.
What has been your most embarrassing moment? :
When I preached my first sermon! I was 11 years old, and I wasn't ready. My mom would push me. My mother woudl say "You're going to sing!" and push me forward and then I'd hear "We're going to call Deitrick Haddon up to sing a solo". But when I preached my first sermon it was a Sunday night and church was packed it seemed to come upon me real quick and I didn't have time to prepare. I got up and sang my song, and people started screaming and hollering (because I could sing by then). And then I read the scripture and then I just went blank. I looked at my mother like "aren't you gonna help me?", and they were like "Oh, we can't help you now, son!". So people were hollering and shouting out encouragement, but I went blank. That was the most embarrassing moment in my life. And the other kids, they never let me forget it. After that I stopped preaching for a while, but I got back on track.
What was the first album you ever bought? :
Not sure, probably a Motown CD, Stevie Wonder, Jackson Five.
What is your most annoying habit? :
Damita will have to be the one to tell me that!
