"A Testimony"
Rodnie Bryant Comments On His Song...

We're living in hard times.

Whether the difficulty is because of the stress we hear on the nightly news, or because of the common stresses that we encounter in our day-to-day lives, ‘the hard times’ are an experience that we all face at some point.

Rodnie Bryant CDFor those of us who know that our only Comfort lies in Jesus Christ, our hope and our security is only in Him. Sometimes a simple song puts things all into perspective.

Rodnie Bryant and CCMC sing the song “A Testimony”, and radio across the county is fielding requests. ‘The phones are hot’, as they say in the business. The Indianapolis-based choir director took some time out to talk with GospelFlava.com about the hit from his album My Father's Business on Tyscot Records (see album review).

“There's really no hard chords or instrumentation to the song. We thought we'd give it a popular beat so that everyone could recognize it. The foot stomps and claps create the whole scene. Then we added just a little hair of traditional chords to bring in all of the entrances to the song. That fives you that down home feeling.”

“Everyone's loving it, one because it's simple and to the point too. The young people love the beat and the tune is catchy. Cedric Thompson, the producer, is a genius at that. 'Way to go Ced!' And Kayla Parker, the soloist and songwriter, outdid herself on this one.”

“When we talk about the lyrics of the song, it really gets deep to me. The love of Jesus Christ is something that surpasses all human understanding. Someone who loves you so much that He died so that you don't have to die. Someone who laid down His life on our behalf. He died even though we have faults and short comings.”

“As a matter of fact that's why he died, because on my best day I'm a filthy rag. With all the things we have done, been through, said, there is someone who still reaches out their hand and says to us, 'it's okay I still love you!'

Rodnie Bryant and CCMC“That's something that will blow your mind. The one person in life that loves you the most still could not compare to the Love of Jesus Christ.”

“That really what the lyrics say, all the things that we've done and gone through there's still someone who not only Loves and cares for us but, in an instant will snatch us out of our situation. Then He does something else, He lifts us so that our enemies will not be able to touch us. What a mighty God we serve. Bless His wonderful name.”

Here is the full set of lyrics to the song.

A Testimony

I Love you so and I'm never gonna let you go
Holdin On to your Hand though sometimes I don't understand
Tears I cry night and day, but I'm gonna trust you anyway
Because you love me and I love you too
Been in church all my life
Sometimes all I find is strife
Thought I'd have friends to the end
But sometimes alone is all I've been
Tears I cried night and day
But God has always made a way
Because he loves and I love him too

Left my home family and job
And my life was so very hard
Tried my best to stand the test
Then God came and gave me rest
Tears I cried night and day
But God has always made a way
Because he loves and I love him too

I lost my job after fourteen years
It left me living in fear
I didn't know how to pay my bills
But in His Word he said stand still
Tears I cried night and day
But God has always made a way
Because he loves and I love him too
