![]() ![]() Storyteller Newcomer Andrew Bryant is a story teller, and it's not just the name of his debut album. The Floridean spins out his ![]() Through the music, his message and point of view shine through (hear audio). After the introductory "Storyteller" track, Bryant moves into "How Can I Say Thanks", which he uses to offer gratitude to his Saviour. Making use of frequent melismatic vocal turns and a mid-tempo groove, he opens ears with his R&B influences and self-contained creative force. "Prodigal Son" works on a different level, with a more laid back tempo and soft congas and keyboards pushing the song into a groove suitable to the reflective and testimonial nature of the lyrics. Bryant shows his feel for soulful jazz on selections such as "Don't Give Up", with synthesizer and plucked strings in support, and on "Forever Yours", with its gentle rhythm accompaniment. The melodic "Lord U Are Worthy Still" is an album highlight, with Bryant melting the lyrics into memory with his fluid tenor and occasional flights into falsetto. Andrew Bryant's launch onto the Gospel scene is a welcome one. ![]() ![]()
