The Anointed Pace Sisters
It's Already Done
The Gospel world has always had a soft spot for The Anointed Pace Sisters, these greatly-gifted voices who combine in glorious harmony and delight in soaring, riff-laden leads.
It's been over seven long years since we've last heard the group (who can forget their multi-colored 1995 sophomore project, My Purpose?). Now, as the flagship group on their own family-based record label (Gospel Pace Music), the group re-enters with a ten-song, studio album titled It's Already Done, under the guidance of a variety of producers.
Straight off the top, the title track grabs the ear and won't let go. Thoughtful guitar contrasts with the pick-me-up urban rhythm ride as The Anointed Pace Sisters add vocal harmony with groove, proclaiming that we don't need to worry, because God has taken care of things, and "it's already done, done". (That catchy 'done, done' part is one of those musical tidbits that just sticks with you for days after you hear the song even once.)
Melonda Pace continues with the urban flava on "Fight", a song where she sings that she will fight for what God has promised, as her sisters offer vocal support on the chorus ("put on your armor, we must fight to the end"). The spiritual warfare imagery reappears on "War Going On", written by Latrice Pace Speights and with programmed bounce track by Kevin Broughton and Israel Embry.
Addressing a seldom-tackled but much-needed topic, "A Single's Prayer" is gorgeous, soft ballad sung by Latrice, with tender guitar from David Leonard and instrumentation from Elvin D. Ross. The words are:
All I ask is for someone
To love me the way that God does
All I need is for someone
To see me through the eyes of Him above
Also on the gentler tip are songs such as the harmony-filled "Chasing After the Wind" which implores us to simply look to Jesus, the dreamy and comforting "In You" and "Mastered Praise" with its repeated "hallelujah" phrasing.
The album concludes with "In His Presence", a multi-lead song and an album highlight that brings in brother and labelmate Murphy Pace who directs his Voices of Power as they deliver strong mass vocal support.
It is so good to see The Anointed Pace Sisters back on the recording scene. Open your arms and put this album straight into the 'welcome back' category.
