It's Not Done Such could be said of the return of the legendary Dynamic Twins to the rap game. After an 8-year layoff, the group, who released their first project in 1991, is back with their fifth full-length release, It's Not Done. As one of the true pioneers of Holy Hip Hop movement, Noel and Robbie Arthurton, also known as D2, re-enter the game with a worthy 13-track offering that is bound to please their existing followers while serve as a credible introduction to new listeners. The opening track plays the dual role of the album's intro and title track as this "dynamic" duo audibly revisits the scourging of Christ, as though it were literally lifted from the epic film The Passion Of The Christ. From there, the track morphs into a tight beat that lets the world know that the Twins are back and lacing the game for Christ. D2 has no problem keeping their sound current as is evidenced by the head noddin' "I'm Still Here". The universal groove totally camouflages the fact that this crew is based in California with East Coast roots. They keep the flow gully with the reggae infused "Unbelievable", guaranteed to get your dancehall blood moving. Look out Sean Paul!! After over a decade of rhyming, it's no surprise to see that the group has amassed a group of friends who are willing to help in this effort. The Company partners with D2 on "Top of The World", a laidback track that lends itself to an old-school sample that has D2 and The Company reminiscing on days gone by and their progression to success. The Company handles the hook on this track. They take on similar duties on the crunk-infused "See & Know", another track that's high on the bounce meter. D2 rekindles their partnership with long time friend and NFL start Raghib "Rocket" Ismail on "Round Here". D2 and Ismail briefly formed the group 3 Sons of Thunder and released "The Reign Cometh" in 2003. They revisit this partnership and get help from Cavier Brown, Good Fella, and Cook Book of L.A. Symphony on this track. Once again, this combo delivers and delivers well, reminding everyone to get their lives in order, as we stand expectant of Christ's return.Yes, D2 is back and making a big time impact to boot. This effort is proof that these veterans still have plenty of years left of influencing the game and defeating the enemy through this medium. Not done by far!
