![]() Live in Kansas City 2004 ![]() GMWA Chairman Bishop Albert L. Jamison Sr. leads of the traditionally-minded "I Need Thee". Punctuated band riffs, organ meanderings from Dexter Smith and Sunday morning call-and-response from the choir put this one on service radar. GMWA mainstay, Rev. Quincy Felding Jr. writes "When I See The Blood", a moving anthem lead by the rich alto voice of Robin Henderson. "I Was Glad", penned by Bruce Linscomb, brings Jay Terrell to the front mic, who does justice to this funky number from the GMWA Men. Christopher Gray writes and sings on the encouraging "Heaven", from the Youth Choir, and Malcolm Williams steps forward on "Wait", an uptempo cut which quickly breaks down into an intricate weave of choir parts. On "Safety", Crystal Rucker shows why she is a convention favorite, her solo work distinguishing the ballad. Closing out this summer’s keeper is Prince Yelder’s "Your Testimony Starts With a Test", with Chicago fireplug Angela Spivey on lead vocals. With Spivey and Yelder combing (many may remember the two working together on the 2004 Stellar TV broadcast, on the Dorothy Love Coates medley), expectations are high and completely satisfied with this offering. Call it a winner, mass choir afficionados should flock to pick this one up for their collections.
