Hezekiah Walker
Book Review: Dream It..Declare It..Do It DESTINY

[Note: See transcript from book below]. You might think that a book from Pastor Hezekiah Walker would dwell heavily on the fabulous string of successes that the NY minister —the so-called Pastor of Hip Hop —has had with his Love Fellowship Crusade Choir since the mid 1980's.

book It might also be natural to expect that the chart-topping artist would perhaps focus on the flourishing Love Fellowship Tabernacle, his church which from beginnings in Brooklyn, has expanded to Pennsylania and New Jersey.

Rather, on Destiny, Hezekiah Walker offers a straightforward book that, while frequently drawing on his experiences in his capacity as both artist and pastor, puts the emphasis on generously sharing how to live out the unique plan that God has for everyone who relies on Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

Walker himself is a tremendous example of living by faith, achieving his destiny in Christ even though natural obstacles placed themselves in his path time and again, from his beginnings in the Fort Greene project of Brooklyn through to challenges in others downplaying his potential.

Using his own experiences, and filling his advice with examples from scripture, Walker addresses issues such as betrayal, facing fears, confronting the pains of the past, and the importance of family.

Published by Whitaker House, the writing style is down-to-earth, accessible and easy to follow. Walker honestly gives his own experiences, showing that even those at the pinnacle of their profession go through difficult times and encounter incredible blockades even from those closest to him. The Verity recording artist and double Grammy winner then turns it around to show how God uses such pain to further His own purposes.

Destiny is a book that encourages, inspires and uplifts the spirits of all those whose hearts desire to experience the special place that God has purposed for them.
