![]() ![]() Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III presents Judah Generation Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III does music too! Walker, who serves as pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church (one church in three locations in Nashville, Tennessee) proves he has plenty of love for the young people of his congregation in their new project, featuring Judah Generation. ![]() Then on “I Am Free”, he leads on this song of liberation and triumph with voices of Judah Generation showcased in a high fashion behind him. His brother, Joey Kibble, proves that their vocal talents are in the genes on “Until.” This is a song of noble expression about long-suffering, a fruit of the Spirit that is often overlooked. “Dance, Dance, Dance” and “Where U At” will surely make the ears of hip-hop lovers perk up; their edgy beats and bumpin’ rhythms will have the young people’s heads bobbing and feet dancing. The catchy numbers have a Kirk Franklin-like flair but with a unique Mt. Zion touch. Rapper Archie Davis energizes things with his boisterous lyrical giftedness. After the upbeat lifting, Judah Generation transcends to the next level with the spiritually embracable “We Need A Healing.” Kendra Carr’s lead vocals makes this song’s stirring message of a healing request truly inspiring. To solidify the word, Bishop Walker adds his spoken word to drive the affirmation to the heart. “Let The Anointing” is a lofty mid-tempo single. The vocal agility of Shammond Scales here is superb, stacking up with Gospel powerhouses Daryl Coley, Kim Burrell and Karen Clark-Sheard. Other highlights include Frederick Vaughn’s genius arrangement in which he combines James Cleveland’s “There’s A Bright Side Somewhere” and Percy Bady’s “There’s No Way.” What a wonder! Shonda Benson’s showmanship on this outstanding song combo helps to cancel out any negative thoughts one may have pondered and replaces them with positive a “I can!”
Having visited contemporary, traditional and hymn genres, Judah Generation also includes the neo-soul flava. They join forces with soul sister Lisa McClendon on “Joy.” McClendon helped to pen the cut, and does what she does best sang! “And the little child shall lead them” is one of the scriptures that may come to mind after listening to the Judah Generation. The choir proves that this generation has what it takes with their flava, and doesn't forget to pay to tribute their musical foundation. ![]() ![]()
