Oasis Praise
Bring It On
Sometimes in life, people tend to forget that Hollywood needs a lot of ministering to.
What would happen if there was a church in the heart of Hollywood? Oasis Christian Center is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural church that is full of actors, actresses, and others that are in the entertainment field. And if you are looking for an album to showcase all the talent that is in the church, then this is not the album for you.
However, if you are looking for an album for the Praise and Worship team as a whole, then Bring It On is the one that you want. Produced by JD Webb and Karl Fehr, the project has a good mix of Gospel, CCM and Latin-styled music with a flair of vocals from the Oasis Praise team that is Gospel-driven.
Some of the highlights on the album include the Latin-tinged "Rain Down" led by Shanna Jones-Moreno and the high energy "Are You Ready", where the keyboards put you in a praise party mode while taking you back to the days of Teddy Riley's New Jack Swing era.
Another song of note is the mid-tempo jazzed tune, "I Could Never Live Without You".
The worship songs on the album are what drive it. The encouraging "I Can Do All Things Through Christ" and the praise-laden "My All" have enough Gospel edge to recommend them
to both church choirs and praise and worship teams alike. Webb ad libs on both songs while not taking away from the concept of the "team-driven" sound.
Other songs to star are "Focus" and "To Dwell in Your Presence". Worship leaders, be sure to add "To Dwell in Your Presence" to your list of new songs to learn. The piece includes awesome vertical lyrics and simple harmony laced with piano and saxophone.
The best song on this album is the CCM styled "Fields of Mercy", previously recorded by Sandi Patty. Testifying of God's love for his people even before they are born and with a nice string arrangement, you can easily imagine yourself in God's neverending field of love and mercy.
If this is what is happening in Hollywood, then Amen!! Keep it up Oasis Praise! Representing the sound of a diverse praise team and the diverse world that we live in, it's easy to echo with them, Bring it On...
