![]() The 7th Episode...Live in Toronto The Atlanta transplant, by way of Chicago, has spent the better part of the last 15 years, along with his choir New G, providing incredible and energetic choir music to the gospel community. With much left to contribute, Dillard and his powerhouse aggregation return with their seventh release, rightly titled The 7th Episode...Live In Toronto. ![]() From the launch of the album's fire charged lead cut "Awesome God", it's evident that Dillard and New G have both guns blazin' as they pack some serious choral heat. Dillard pens three of the album's songs, enlisting the talented pens of Dennis Reed and F. Darnell Davis to handle the remaining cuts. Without question, Dillard and New G add life, color, and tons of flavor to each track. The Dillard-penned "The Light" serves as the album's lead radio single and for good reason, as it blends that strong Chicago bump with those trademark New G vibrato-laced vocals. The classic hymn "I Surrender All" gets new life with an arrangement by Davis and incredible lead vocals from the incomparable Nikki Ross.
Equally catchy is "Thou Art My God", which serves as Dillard and New G's first foray into the pop arena. Incredibly, the choir manages to totally transform their vocal style to deliver this piece masterfully, breaking new ground for the organization. Other notable hits include "That Name" and an unforgettable cover of the Eric McDaniel penned "One More Chance" with Lillian Lloyd. The 7th Episode goes down as a defining moment for Dillard and New G. In an era where choir music is being redefined, it's a throwback to strong and sound choir music. Filled with musical excellence, strong vocals, and robust writing, The 7th Episode is a winner all the way.
