Smokie Norful
Live

Smokie Norful... now, Pastor Smokie Norful, is back with his most complete release to date, simply titled Live. Enlisting the help of Jason White (who serves as musical director), Norful also brings in top notch background vocalists, including Nikki Ross, Floyd Wilkerson, LaJuanese Robinson and Faith Howard, to deliver songs of worship, praise and traditional material for Sunday morning church.

The swingy "Don't Quit" is an encouraging jam that features some potent licks and vocal runs, mixed great harmonies from the background vocalists.

Preaching is a norm for this pastor; the presence of songs birthed from sermons is therefore not a surprise. Norful gives a sermonette before going into the project's hit single, "Justified". The intensity ups as he goes into the vamp and takes it straight to church.

Norful pairs with labelmate Heather Headley to remake The Commodores' classic, "Jesus Is Love", bringing new beauty to this already remarkable song.

On the encouraging "He's Gonna Come Through", Tye Tribbett joins in on the fun as he joins with Norful as they trade ad libs while still allowing the background vocals to accent the composition. Vinnie Ciesielski and Steve Patrick spice things further with horns.

"I Will Bless The Lord" has a funky edge to it with some infectious call and response segments. The background vocalist shine as they match Smokie part for part to make this a sure-fire praise party.

Norful's smooth vocals shine as he sings the soothing, "In the Presence of the King", accompanied by an orchestral arrangement from The Nashville String Machine.

Call Live a new level for Smokie Norful, as he takes his ministry even higher.
