Concert Recap: Chicago Remembers Katrina Hurricane Victims
Sept 18, 2005

Gospel music lovers packed Chicago's 10,000 seat House of Hope on September 11, 2005 for a gospel concert aiding the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The concert drew a Who's Who of Chicago preachers, singers and musicians, including Rev. Clay Evans, Donald Lawrence, the Queen of Gospel Albertina Walker, Bishop Larry Trotter and Sweet Holy Spirit Combined Choirs, the historic First Church of Deliverance Mass Choir, Ricky Dillard and New Generation Chorale, Leanne Fainne, The Barrett Sisters and many others.

A highlight of the evening was when Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich gave a soulful rendition of Thomas Dorsey's "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". Over $100,000 was raised to support hurricane victims.
