RAWSRVNT
Gone Fishin'

CDAfter “Representin’” on his first release (see album review), RAWSRVNT is back with a sophomore endeavor. Gone Fishin’ has RAWSRVNT offering 15 tracks of heat, and shows his growth and development as an artist —without sacrificing his edgy presentation.

RAWSRVNT’s intense vocal delivery has quickly become his trademark and he doesn’t disappoint on this release. It’s evident from the first 5 seconds of this project that RAWSRVNT is ready to do his thing. The leadoff single “Shake Sum’than” is a high-energy dance track that appropriately encourages believers to party and enjoy themselves. While doing so, RAWSRVNT lays down basic ground rules, reminding everyone that this dance is for the Lord.

The praise party continues with “Bomb Beach Party”. Tony P. connects with the emcee for this head bobbin’ track demonstrating again that Christians indeed know how to party.

Interview with RAWSRVNT
Click for review Gospelflava.com spent some time with RAWSRVNT to find out more:

1. Where did you come up with your unique stage name and what does it mean? (Answer)

2. Your style and rowdy flare are comparable to secular artists (such as Mystikal), minus the derogatory lyrics. Why is it important for hip hop to reflect a positive message? (Answer)

3. Who are your influences? (Answer)

4. You incorporate styles raging from crunk to worship flows. Did you intentionally lay out the album in this fashion or did you want to experiment with various styles to appeal to the listeners? (Answer)

The Florida native adds a bit of that southern-flava'd crunk to the party with “Enough”. This track isn’t as intense in nature as RAWSRVNT's standard fare, being slightly mellowed out by a slick piano lick in the background. However, the honesty of the subject matter jumps out at you as the emcee speaks of the realistic challenges that believers have relative to our daily struggle with sin. And with this track comes the essence of the album title, Gone Fishin’.

RAWSRVNT uses this project to speak honestly about issues and present a balanced view of life and the impact of the Gospel message. “Go!!” admonishes believers to go out and fulfill the Great Commission. Grav of EOG makes a guest appearance, adding an Eminem-like feel, reminiscent of his classic flow on “8 Mile”.

“Str8 Up Awesome” speaks of the awesomeness of God and renders praise to Christ for His love and kindness. “I’m Warning You” cautions all to live a life that’s pleasing to God at all times. It warns all to look out for the subtle attack of the enemy and look for a way of escape.

The album appropriately ends with a unique twist on the hymn “Thank You Lord” with a track of the same name, thus capturing the journey of RAWSRVNT.

This fishing expedition is a success and is poised to capture a lost soul and reel him into Christ.
