WOW Gospel 2007

It's that time of year again! Along with completed consecrations, excitement for the new year and perhaps already-failed resolutions, you can always count on January to bring the CDbest in Gospel from the previous year. This year WOW Gospel celebrates its 10th Anniversary with the biggest and best of the best.

With a track listing running 32 deep (on two CDs), you'll find something in the mix for practically everybody you know.

Flowing in on the energetic side is "Blessing of Abraham" with Donald Lawrence featuring Tri-City, "The Real Party" with sister duo Mary, Mary and "Turn It Around" with Israel and New Breed.

Veterans Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker and LFC, Fred Hammond and Yolanda Adams make their annual appearances along with quartet fixtures The Mighty Clouds of Joy.

The new jacks weigh in by way of the recently Stellar-awarded Myron Butler and Levi, Darrel Petties and SIP, V3 and the new-to-some Dewayne Woods with his widely loved "Let Go". With 2006 easily going down as the year of the crossover with so many R&B artists stepping over to do Gospel albums, Dave Hollister, Kelly Price and jazz giant Ramsey Lewis represent.

Obvious categories aside, what's left is nothing to sneeze at. This is, after all, WOW Gospel! Everything is notable. Smokie Norful, Nicole C. Mullen, J. Moss and Tye Tribbett featuring Kim Burrell round things out, making the set a must-have once again.

Each year WOW salutes a top Gospel city, and this year it focuses on Atlanta, which holds its own as one of the top markets for Gospel —home to renowned artists including Dottie Peoples and Byron Cage. This compilation of the best and brightest in Gospel Music pays kudos to this southern Gospel hotbed.
