Kirk Franklin
Songs For The Storm, Volume 1

Kirk Franklin has been racking up the hits over the years. You name the album, there's at least 3 hits on it. At least.

CDOn Franklin's first compilation release on his imprint Fo Yo Soul Records, he focuses in on Songs For The Storm. It's Volume 1 from the Life Series where he intends to zero in on specific life issues. This one is just in time for the holidays, which can be as challenging for some as is it joyous for others.

There are flashbacks to powerful tracks like "He Will Take the Pain Away" from the Nu Nation Project that proclaims the certainty of God's healing power. Franklin recalls that "It was always hard to get through rehearsals with God's Property" on the cut, since "every time we would rehearse this song we would get caught up in worship."

The mid-tempo groove "When I Get There" offers a hopeful perspective when friends and loved ones have passed on to glory. Reflecting on what is to come, along with fond memories of what has been is the focus here.

The project includes Kirk classics such as "Melodies From Heaven" and "The Family Worship Medley" both featuring the powerful vocal synergy of the Family.

For a little twist, a brand new guitar-driven track is featured. "Look At Me Now" is a defiant, fresh pop perspective number that reflects the everchanging face of Gospel and offers some encouragement to boot.

An added bonus for Franklin fans is the music video for everyone's 'right now' favorite, "Imagine Me " (from the Hero album).

Kirk Franklin generally sets out to offer a glimpse of hope and sunshine in the midst of whatever your trial is. For some, it is still fighting to rise from the circumstances and conditions that follow Hurricane Katrina. For others, it is in the daily struggle of routine circumstance.

Whatever, the challenge, this collection of Songs for the Storm will certainly help you make it through.
