New Life Community Choir featuring John P. Kee Nothing But Worship
The New Life Community Choir is back with all the energy and oomph they're renowned for. The Charlotte-based choir has been putting a charge into the Gospel scene since their debut in the 1980s, with their power vocals and energetic mastermind, Pastor John P. Kee. With Nothing But Worship, the emphasis is on praise, both in music and in lifestyle, with twelve new songs.
From the get-go, "Right Now Praise" is a throwback to the classic New Life sound: tight-like-it-hurts vibrato, pumping bass and a hook that reels 'em in. The hiphop remix accepts a dose of urban stylings.
The mid-tempo invitational "Come on Let's Worship" puts the spotlight on a call-and-response session between Kee and choir, as the collective extends the call to worship. Kee is in fine form, his unmistakable vocal style out front. "Sanctuary" is an uptempo companion cut, with its theme of preparing the heart for worship.

"Oh Lord Our God" brings in Fred Hammond for a rare guest spot, as Pastor Kee trades lead vocals and then wraps harmony into the mix as he duets with Hammond on this prayerful ballad, which also features Timiney Figueroa-Canton and Nikki Ross on vocals.
In the traditional vein, "It Shall Be" and "I'm Waiting" (with a quartet feel) make the mark. "Forgiven" is a detour into jazz territory, with a fantastic build towards the song's conclusion, courtesy of an array of female vocalists and choir modulations.
"Live For You" is New Life in a different vien. With a never-quit beat percolating underneath, choir and Kee roll a catchy series of phrases in pop-rock vibe over top. Don't miss this cut.
In fact, don't miss this entire project. New Life Community Choir featuring John P. Kee demonstrate that Nothing But Worship is one that must not be passed by in this season of new music.
