The Williams Sisters
Power In The House

The Williams Sisters hit us back in 1996 with Live On The East Coast: Let Every Ear Hear, and it soon became one of the top requested albums in the quartet genre, hitting as high as number 10 on Billboard.

Now in 2004, the six-member group goes even further east, and records Power In The House. The project was recorded live in Lucerne, Switzerland.

CDNow under the EMI Gospel banner, and featuring production from the talented Tony Beck, the album is an eleven song set that brings back all the drive and musical power that the Williams Sisters have always brought to the table.

In addition to some redos of prior hits such as the driving "Never Lost The Fight" and "Jesus Will Pick You Up", the Williams Sisters also deliver plenty of new stuff.

"My Change" is one that is bound for massive repeat, as lead vocalist Renee Williams takes charge and moves the piece into it's slow tempo, pounding finish. "I'm Ready", written by Juliet Williams, tells Jesus that "I am ready to come home".

The project features some fabulous live band work from a top notch crew (guitar, drums, sax, Hammond B3, piano, bass), and on top of that, brings in generous splashes of horns and strings, mostly arranged by Beck and Bill Jolly, and performed by a live orchestra. That may sound unusual for a quartet, but Beck and crew make it work very, very well.

The funky, fast-paced title cut, "Power In The House", has Renee and Juliet taking lead duties. Then on the laid back "Somebody's Watching You", Patricia Williams joins in solo duties with Renee and Juliet.

Take this album in if you dare. Pushing the envelope and succeeding, The Williams Sisters are back in a very big way.
