18th Annual Stellar Award Winners (2002)
Winners for The 18th Annual Stellar Awards have been announced.
There we no empty seats, as sold-out The Boisteuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center again hosted the year's most prestigious Gospel awards ceremony. Hosting the live-to-tape celebration on the January 11th evening was Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary and Michelle Williams.
Performing was Smokey Norful, alone on grand piano, with "I Need You Now", Angela Spivey with the popular "Dorothy Love-Coates Medley", Israel and New Breed with  "You Are Good" and Shekinah Glory Ministries with their runaway hit, "Praise Is What I Do" to close out the taping in a big and intensely powerful way.
Multiple Stellar winners included Smokie Norful (3), Yolanda Adams (2), Donald Lawrence & TriCity Singers (3, plus the award to Philpott Design for their album's artwork), Richard Smallwood with Vision (3), Ted & Sheri (2), Kirk Franklin (5), The Canton Spirituals (2) and Dorinda Clark-Cole (2).
